Fast Production Car Available in 2014 to Attempt Speed Record

telematics car insuranceA new car that is hoped by investors to go on sale next year is being touted as being the fastest car that will be available for sporty car drivers.  The car will cost £750,000 and is capable of going from zero to 60 mph in two seconds.  Later this year the car will be tested on its speed capability when it attempts a world speed record for a production car in the United Arab Emirates.  The car will have to exceed the current record of 268 mph which is held by a Bugatti Veyron.

Named the Keating Bolt, the car is designed by Dr. Anthony Keating out of Manchester’s Keating Supercars and is said to have a top speed of 340 mph and 800 horsepower.  Dr. Keating’s firm has also produced the SKR, TKR, and the ZKR.

The Bolt is powered by a 7.0 litre LS7 V8 located in the center of the car and has a six speed transmission with rear wheel drive.  The gearbox design began development when Dr. Keating was a student at University of Bolton’s Centre for Advanced Performance Engineering.

Dr. Keating remarked, “The car is unique with many of the components engineered in our own workshop. For real supercar enthusiasts, with very deep pockets, a twin turbo charged version of The Bolt would achieve 0 to 60mph in 2 seconds and travel faster than any supercar in history.”

The Bolt is not likely to draw attention from drivers hoping to reduce their fuel consumption.  The car at full power consumes a full tank of petrol in nine minutes.
